Dennis, Charley - A well known negro, about 25 years old was killed
Friday night at his home near St. Mark in the Oak Community. His wife was
arrested and locked up in jail charged with killing him. According to
unconfirmed reports, the wife says she and her husband were in a dispute
and that both were after the gun, which, in some way, was accidentally
discharged, with the result that the shot took effect near his heart,
killing him instantly. (Hopkins County Echo, 1924)
