Russell is charged with having committed murder upon the body of William L. Harper, in the county of Hopkins of this State on the 15th day of May, 1854; and whereas, it has been made known to me that the said Russell has fled from justice; Now, therefore, be it known that I, E. M. Pease, Governor of said State, by virtue of the authority vested in me by law, do hereby offer a reward of three hundred dollars for the apprehension and delivery of said Russell to the Sheriff of Hopkins county in order that he many be dealt with according to law. In testimony whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the great seal of the State to be affixed. Done at the city of Austin, this the 16th day of June, A. D. 1854, and of the Independence of Texas the 19th year. E. M. Pease By the Governor: Edward Clark, Secretary of State Said Russell is about 35 years of age, about five feet ten inches high, black eyes and black curley hair, quick spoken, and will weigh about 165 or 175 pounds.
