All rights reserved http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ***************************************************** From the files of June Tuck Thirty-Ninth Reunion of Maloney Family is Held Sulphur Springs, Texas - June 12, 1922 - The 39th annual reunion of the Maloney family was held in the City Park at Sulphur Springs June 10th and 11th of the more than 200 decedents of Samuel Norwood Maloney and Mrs Nannie Maloney were present. The parent Maloney pair came from Cobb Co., Georgia, to Fannin County (Texas) in 1857, settling near the present town of Ladonia. The first family reunion was held in Ladonia in 1883, eleven years after the father had died, and was attended by five sons and five daughters, with their mother, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. E. Johnson, two miles west of Ladonia. After the death of the mother in 1889, for many years the reunion was held on the day of her birth by the sons and daughters with their families, only three of whom are still living, as follows: William D. Mahoney of Soper, Okla.; Mrs. Julia Ann Williamson of Sulphur Springs, and Mrs. Cole T. Rutland of Tulsa, Okla. Dallas was chosen as the next meeting place of the reunion in June 1923, there being 17 families belonging to the reunion living in that city. The following are the officers of the reunion for the next year: William D. Maloney of Soper, Okla., President; John Abernathy of Dallas, Vice-President; I. M. Runnion of Wolfe City, Secretary; and P. E. Mahoney of Commerce, Treasurer.
