Tuck 49th Wedding Anniversary of Mr. & Mrs. J. B. Sanders 1881 - 1930 On Sunday, November 23rd, the children and grandchildren of Mr. and Mrs. J.B. Sanders gathered at their home in the Palestine community to celebrate the 49th wedding anniversary with a surprise dinner. They began gathering about 9:00 o’clock and dinner was served about 12:00 , which consisted of Hopkins Co. stew, baked chicken, turkey and dressing, cakes, pies and salads, and many other good things too numerous to mention. Mr. & Mrs. J. B. Sanders were united in marriage Nov. 24, 1881, at Meridian, Mississippi, by Rev. Stone of that place. Mrs. Stone was, before her marriage, Miss Lou Wheeless. To this union were born fifteen children, none of whom survive. Mr. & Mrs. Sanders were both born and raised in Alabama. They came to Texas December 6, 1896, and settled near Campbell, living there for sixteen years. They then moved to Anthony, Fannin County, and lived there one year. Then moved back to Alabama, staying only one year, came back to Texas and settled south of Cumby where they have resided for the past sixteen years. Those present to enjoy the day were Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Sanders and sons, Buster and Archie: Mr. and Mrs. T. C. Bennett and daughter, Iris; Mr and Mrs. T. O. White and daughters, Lois, Coy, Evelyn, Nelda Joye, of Campbell; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Gaines and daughter, Charlene, of Cumby; and Mrs. T. W. Langley and children, Lynn, Wanda Lou, and James B.; Mr. and Mrs. Alva Webb and baby and three nieces, Desma, Opal and Mittie Pugh. On daughter, Mrs. R. E. Melton, and one son, Allen Sanders, and their families were not present. We all enjoyed the day very much and departed for our homes late in the afternoon, wishing mother and dad many more happy years of married life. Cumby Rustler
