All rights reserved http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ***************************************************** From the files of June Tuck WASHAM - A few days since a man named Washam was arrested in our town (Sulphur Springs) by direction of a couple of citizens of Van Zant county, for horse stealing. The officer who arrest the prisoner took him to Wood county to stand his trial, and after delivering him to the proper authorities, he was shot and killed, rumor says, by the man who had him arrested.
