Acker, died at her home on Church Street, February 27, 1906, with burial in the Sulphur Springs City Cemetery. She was born March 7, 1869, in Hopkins County, Texas, near old Bethel Church; the youngest of seven children, all of whom passed over the chilly water of death, some of them before her birth and part in her early childhood, leaving her the only child of doting parents. Her early school days were spent at Bethel, then Sulphur Springs, from there to Burlerson College at Waco, then finished her education at State Normal at Huntsville. She taught school in this county for several years. She married Tom McBride when 21 or 22 years old. In a period of five years, her father, mother, and her husband were taken, leaving her alone until a few years ago she married H. P. Acker who survives her. Written by a friend.
