P. - Died November 21, 1914, at his home on Church Street presumably of heart trouble. He had been out riding in his auto just a few minutes before he was found dead in his chair by his phone. The telephone receiver being down indicated that he was in the act of using the instrument, as the summons of Death came. Mr. Acker was born in Talladega County, Alabama, March 15, 1844. On Nov. 4, 1863, he volunteered in Co. H, 25th Alabama Infantry, Confederate Army. Was captured July 3, 1864 and was a prisoner of war till the close of the conflict. He came to Texas in 1868 and to Sulphur Springs in 1870. The funeral services were conducted at the Baptist church, with Rev. J. H. Boyet, now of Clarksville, conducting the service.
