Bailey - (Resolutions of respect from the Matt Aschroft Camp No. 170, U.C. V., Sulphur Springs, Texas, April 5, 1908.) Comrade Bailey passed away at his home in this city the 3rd day of April 1908, in the 64th year of his age. He was born in Georgia and came to Texas in 1849. He entered the confederate army under Captain House, the 14th Texas Cavalry, Ector’s Brigade in 1862. He was with Bragg in Kentucky, was with the army in the Georgia campaign and at Nashville under Hood. As a soldier he acted well his part, never faltering amid the hail of iron and lead. At the end of struggle he surrendered May 1865, at Meridian, Mississippi, returning home. He leaves his wife and children. Committee: I. H. Harrison, R. M. Henderson, B. W. Foster.
