All rights reserved http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ***************************************************** From the files of June Tuck BANKS, ROBERT L. - Robert Banks, who was raised three miles east of Pickton, died Sunday at his home in Boaz (sic), New Mexico, to which place he moved about a year ago. (Following notice of his death appeared in the Dallas News Tues. morning, reprinted in the Como Headlight, and then put in the S.S. Gazette, Fri. Nov. 5, 1909) Roswell, N. M. October 25, 1909 - Robert L. Banks died yesterday at his home in Boaz, a little town north of here, and the verdict of the Coroner's jury, which today held an inquest over the body, was that death was caused by a blow on the head, delivered by a policeman in Roswell two weeks ago. Banks was arrested in this city two weeks ago for a misdemeanor charge. He resisted arrest, drawing a knife and cutting a policeman on the hand. Two policeman took him in hand, and in the struggle Banks was hit on the head. At the time Banks was not thought to be badly hurt. He paid his fine in Police Court the next morning and walked about as usual. When he went home an affection like blood poison set in and he also took pneumonia and jaundice.
