The east bound train had been at the station a few minutes when the west bound train came in: Castleberry was working on the track with his back to the way the train was coming; the train struck him on the shoulder and side of the head. He undoubtedly heard the train, but the supposition is that he thought it was the other train. The unfortunate young man was carried to Cruther's Sanitarium at Mt. Vernon where an operation was performed on his skull, but he died that night. The burial occurred at Richland cemetery, services conducted by Rev. Parnell and Uncle Ben Sheppard. He leaves a wife and child, mother, father, and sister. (Sulphur Springs Gazette, Feb. 1915) (Richland cemetery is located in Hopkins Co., Texas - J. T.)
