He was married to Miss Elizabeth Bolton at Carroll's Prairie, now Como, on June 14, 1885. This unions was blessed with two sons, Joseph and Albert, the former having died in infancy. For a number of years, Mr Coleman engaged in the general merchandising business at Carroll's Prairie and handled large timber contracts for the railroads. He later moved to Sulphur Springs, and after becoming thoroughly identified with the best interests of our city, was called to the Mayor's office, a position of trust and honor in which he served four terms. During his incumbency as Mayor much good work was done, and our large reservoir, which bears his name, is an eloquent and lasting tribute to one of his early administrations. The funeral services were held at the family home on Davis street with Revs. Wallace Bassett, J.B. Gober and R.C. Hicks conducting the services. The burial occurred at the City Cemetery under auspices of I.O.O.F. Lodge of which he had been a faithful and consistent member for many years. (Sulphur Springs Gazette)
