All rights reserved http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ***************************************************** From the files of June Tuck GREER, RAYMOND - A native son of Sulphur Springs and one of the best known and most popular young man in all of Hopkins county, died Thursday. afternoon at the Long Hospital from injuries received in an automobile wreck one week before near Cumby, and after everything that skilled physicians could do to save his life. He as born in Sulphur Springs, December 10, 1903, and was more than 29 years old. He was the son of Mr. & Mrs. Jim Greer, the latter of whom, Mrs. Annie Greer, together with two brothers and one sister survive, as follows: Lewis Greer of Eldorado, Ark., Lester Greer of Henderson, and Mrs. Jack Maxwell of Sulphur Springs. Mr. Greer graduated from Sulphur Springs High School and later attended a business college in Dallas. For two years he served as County Auditor of Hopkins County. He also held a responsible position with the Sulphur Springs Loan and Building Assoc. and the City National Bank before accepting a position with the Echo six years ago which position he held at the time of his death. He was a leading member of the Knights of Pythias Lodge, being the present keeper of records at the time of his death. He was a member of the First Methodist Church, being on the Board of Stewards. Funeral services were in the Methodist Church with Pastor J. Sam Barcus in charge. Burial followed in the City Cemetery. (Paper, Fri., Sept. 22, 1933)
