He went from Mt. Vernon to the war and served in the 11th Texas Cavalry for four years, being wounded twice, though not permanently injured. The same year he came to Texas and became a member of the Baptist Church. After the war he returned here and located on the place that he has ever since occupied and which was granted to him by the State. Here he was married to Mrs. N. E. Edwards, and five children were born to them, four of whom are still living. Funeral services were conducted by Bro. W. W. Morris and the burial was made at Saltillo (Hopkins County.) (Mt.
