JEFFERSON, H. C. - At Blooming Grove Tues. evening, Sam Barton shot and killed
H.C. Jefferson. A shot gun was used, four shots being fired into the body of
Jefferson. Both men were highly respected farmers. Barton immediately
surrendered to the sheriff. (S.S. Gazette, Fri., Jly. 24, 1908)
