He is no longer seen nor heard among the living. The evening of the 14th of January, 1892, at Reily Springs, Hopkins County, Texas, brought that hour which he was expecting, and for which he many days had been waiting, when the dust should return to the earth as it was, and the spirit to God who gave it. He had entered upon his seventy fifth year. He was born in Robeson County, North Carolina, of parents in whose veins ran the purest of Scotland^Òs blood, and in whose hearts were cherished and loved those doctrines which identify the Presbyterian Church. Hence in early life he joined the Carolina Presbyterian church in Neshoba County, Mississippi, where he and his parents moved, and where he married Miss Mary A. McRay, who was also a Carolinian of like blood and faith, but whom he left a widow after more than fifty years of pleasant married life. In 1866, he moved to Texas and settled at Reily Springs, Hopkins County, to which point he carried his religion and neither hid it under a bushel nor his certificate in his trunk, but cast his lot with others and organized a church in which he maintained the Christian character. The Church he regarded as the body of that Saviour whom he loved, and in whose faith he died a peaceful death. (Edited)
