Mr. McLemore was born in the state of Georgia, October 3, 1818. He professed religion and joined the Methodist Church and was made a Mason about the same time in Chambers County, Alabama, from where he moved, sometimes in the forties, to Arkansas, carrying with him love for the church and Masonry. He was happily married three times, his first wife having been Miss Jane Ward of Alabama; his second wife, Miss S. B. Holderness, of Arkansas; and his lasts, who survived him, Mrs. S. P. Williams, Nee Miss Ashcroft. Twelve children were born to the deceased; five by the first wife, three by the second wife, and four by the third wife, but only four of these children are living - one of the first and three of the last family. Mr. Anderson first came to Hopkins County, Texas, in 1863, returning to Arkansas just after the late war, but finally coming back to Hopkins County in 1869, since which time and until his death he as been a resident of this county, having made his home for the past few years of his life in Sulphur Springs.
