All rights reserved http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ***************************************************** From the files of June Tuck MEADERS, WILLIAM - Affectionately known as Grandpa Meaders, quietly passed away at the home of his granddaughter, Mrs. W. B. Jones, in Sunrise addition. He was one of the oldest men in Oklahoma, being in his 96th year. He was born in Banks County, Georgia, on July 13, 1813. He fought for which he thought was right in the Civil War, joining the Confederate ranks soon after the outbreak of that conflict. After the war was ended, he moved to near Ladonia, Texas, and later moved in the vicinity of Sulphur Springs, Texas. Four years ago he came to Ada and has since lived among his children. His wife died about twenty years ago and he is survived by three children: J.W. Meaders of Sulphur Springs, Texas, Mrs. Mollie Stephens who lives in Georgia, and Harrison Meaders whose home is in Mississippi. Mr. Meaders was a member of the Masonic fraternity. The remains will be shipped in Sulphur Springs, Texas, where burial will follow in that city. (Sulphur Springs Gazette, Fri.
