Murray on Davis street. His journey of 85 years on the highway of time had been a long one. He married Miss Ellen Gilbert, a sister of Mrs. Ike Cox, Mrs. Wilson, and Drs. Bob and Sam Gilbert. To this union ten children were born, all of whom are now deceased, save three: J. J., W. G., and J. G. Murray. Mr. Murray came to Hopkins County in 1881 from Kentucky, locating in the Gafford Chapel community, where he had lived up until a few years ago. On the death of Mrs. Murray, he moved to this city and lived with his son, W. G. Murray. He was a member of the Presbyterian church. Funeral services were held at the City cemetery, officiated by Rev. R. B. Whiteside. (Sulphur Springs Gazette, Ap. 7, 1916)
