Services conducted by Rev. Hornbear, with the Masonic fraternity having charge of the burial ceremonies. Born in Georgia, Sept. 16, 1829, married Miss Martha Ann Jones April 5, 1855. To this union were born seven children, five boys and two girls. Six of whom survive. Moved to Texas in 1859, settling in Lamar County, Texas. Moved to Hopkins County 47 years ago. Joined the Confederate Army in 1862, as a private in Co. A 23rd Texas, Trans-Mississippi Division. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church. (Cumby Rustler, June 19, 1914)
