He was found at the barn in a semi-conscious condition. Dr. Harrington, of Dike, was summoned and Uncle Jasper rallied, then began to sink into a stupor. His tired spirit taking its flight as quietly as a child going to sleep. The burial occurred at the City cemetery, conducted by Eld. Boss of Mahoney. He leaves his wife, four sons and one daughter, Newton Rhodes of Old Tarrant, Charlie Rhodes of Chillicothe, John A. Rhodes of this city, Freddie Rhodes of Dike and Mrs. L.A. Miller of Abilene. Jasper Rhodes was born in Pike county, Indiana, in 1847. He was married in early life to Sarah Argenbright, and they moved to Texas in the early seventies, locating near Birthright, Hopkins county, later moving to Dike where they have resided ever since.
