McDonald received a telegram Saturday morning that James Simmons, one the pioneer citizens of Hopkins county died Friday night at the home of his son, T. F. Simmons, at Oglesby, Texas. Mr. Simmons moved from Mississippi to Reily Springs community soon after the war between the States, and lived there until a few years ago when he moved to Coryell county. He was related to the McKay and Stribling families and many of the older families. He was a Confederate veteran. His widow and three children survive - all of them living in Coryell county except one daughter, Mrs. Bob Hughens, who lived near Yantis in this county. The body was interred at Osage, Texas.
