J. Simpson of Lone Oak, who was fatally burned while playing in front of an open fire in the Simpson's home late Friday, died Saturday night. Services were held at Lone Oak, conducted by Rev. Harold, with burial following there. The little girl, who, with her twin sister, was playing "grown up," had donned a dress of her mother's and came too near the fireplace. The dress was ignited and within a few seconds she was enveloped in flames. Although badly burned about the body and lower limbs, she was taken to Greenville for medical attention, but died shortly before midnight Saturday. (Cumby Rustler, Fri., May 4, 1928)
