Lively, one of Augusta's most prominent citizens, paid the Courer office a visit last Thursday. J.T. Dorman, one of the county's best farmers and citizens, was a caller at the Courier office Wednesday of last week. Mrs. W.B. Page entertained Mrs. M.E. Smith, Miss Stewart Wise, Miss Mary Hughes, Miss Roberta Smith and Mrs. Luther Eastham at luncheon Saturday at one o'clock. Mrs. Jack Smith of Palestine was a guest of relatives and friends in the city last week. Hugh Mercer Smith of Weldon will spend the holiday season with relatives and friends here. R.S. Hooks, one of the Courier's good friends down at Pennington, was in town Tuesday. Giant Mamoth Bronze turkeys for sale. W.H. Dean, R.D. No. 2, Crockett, Texas C.A. Turner of Route 5 and W.E. Bennett of Route 2 were among the Courier's friends in town Satuday. Eli Elkins, Superintendent of the coal mine at Wootters, made the Courier a visit Saturday while transacting business in this city. Mrs. Albert von Doenhoff of New York, accompanied by her little son, is visiting at the home of her parents, Judge and Mrs. A.A. Aldrich. Mrs. B.E. Hail, who has been in the Palestine hospital for the past month, returned home Sunday morning and is rapidly regaining her health. Mrs. D.F. Arledge entertained with a "forty-two" party Tuesday evening complimentary to Misses Wise and Hughes of Virginia and Misses Wortham and Fulmore of Austin. The good cooking done in the Fine Arts demonstration department at the Houston County fair was on a Clark-Jewel gasoline stove, which are sold in Crockett by C.A. Clinton. Lumber for Sale. Montzingo reached home Sunday morning from Amarillo and accompanied by his wife, left Monday for Memphis and Chicago. Mrs. Montzingo's people live in Memphis, where she and her husband will spend the holiday season. A small dancing party enjoyed at the hospitality of Mr. and Mrs. R.H. Wootters Monday evening. The party was complimentary to Miss Stewart Wise and Miss Mary Hughes of Virginia and Misses Wortham and Fulmore of Austin, the guests of Mrs. Wootters and Mrs. F.G. Edmiston. To The Public. Hunter of Marlin, a breeder and trainer of high-class harness horses, has closed a deal with the Houston County Fair Association and will take charge of the fairgrounds and stables. Mr. Hunter will bring a string of horses here from his Marlin stables for wintering and training. His horses are all of the harness class, none of them being runners. Miss Jessie Smith of this city and Mr. C.L. Griffin of Big Springs were married Sunday eveining at 7 o'clock by Rev. Geo. W. Davis at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Denman Sims, Mrs. Sims being a sister of the bride. Mrs. Griffin was one of Crockett's most popular girls. A daughter of the late T.F. Smith, she was reared to womanhood in this city. The bridegroom is a distant relative of the Methodist pastor, Mr. Davis, and comes from one of Big Springs' best families. Mr. and Mrs. Griffin will make their home in the west Texas town from which the bridegroom comes.
