Envelope: Return address: Sgt. Lyday APO # 263 Free Mail Hdq. Maint. BN 13th AO Camp Beach, California US Army Postmark: Camp Beach, Calif. December 11, 1942 2 PM TO: Miss Carrie Ewing (?) (might be Ivy) Celeste, Texas Letter: Tuesday, December 8, 1942 Dear Carrie, What's cooking? I'm still working in classification and am trying to catch up on my correspondence. I wrote Nita this morning. No one ever sent me Archie's address. Well, I'm getting my furlough the first part of January. I'll only be home a day or two, though, unless I fly, for I only get eleven days and it takes about eight or nine days to come and go. 2100 miles is quite a long way. I'm doing okay. I have a little cold right now, but not very much, It's been raining out here most all the time. I'll sure be happy if I'm sent back East. I don't like it so much out here. San Francisco was quite some town. We had beautiful weather down there and I saw everything. The Golden Gate is really some view. How is your hand? I was awfully sorry to hear about it. Those carbuncles are terrible things. I ran into Charles Warren in Frisco. He said to tell you hello. He looks like he has been through a heck of a lot. He was so glad to see someone from Celeste. He just almost had a fit. I only talked to him a little while because he had to go back to duty. He's a Cpl. in the 93rd Inf. and is on a ship. He had just come from Africa. I'm just about in the mood to go across myself. I'm surely getting tired of camp life. I'd rather be in action, I think. Well, Billie, take care of everything. I always think about you all. I love you, Peter (Underlined and I am not sure if it is "Peter" Questions: Who is Nita? Archie? Charles Warren? And, of course, the two parties involved in this correspondence?
