The winners will meet Boles Home Tuesday night in the semi-final of District 53-B cage tournament at Commerce. The game was air-tight all the way, although Celeste held the lead most of the thirty-two minutes. Curtis Nichols who kept Bland in the contest during the hectic fourth period, made two quick field goals with less than one minute left to play to knot the count at forty-nine all. Celeste's Allen Biggs was fouled, but missed from the charity line, leaving the score tied. Nicholson of Bland then returned the favor when his free toss went astray. This set the stage for Martin's stealing act, and it was all over, but the shouting. Martin and Biggs of the winners both tallied twenty-one and twenty point markers, respectively, and Nicholson of Bland hit twenty. The losers were hurt badly when they lost the services of their little playmaker, Sammy Rackley, midway in the third period. Rackley was a demon on defense with his frequent thefts of the roundball. In addition, he delivered four timely fielders for Bland. Bland out-hit the victors from the he floor nineteen to sixteen, but the big difference was at the charity line where Celeste bagged nineteen while Bland managed only eleven. Biggs contributed fourteen from the gift line himself. In the earlier girls' tilt, Bland triumphed thirty-four to twenty-eight, with Johnnie McCloud sinking nineteen tallies and Wanda Thomason hitting fifteen. They had to take a back seat to Allene Biggs of Celeste, however. She equaled her twin brother's twenty points in the boys' game. The Bland girls take on Campbell Tuesday night in a semi-final event at 6:30 PM. Game time for he Boles Home - Celeste boys encounter is 8:00 PM.
