Editors were Donna Childress and Barbara Lipsey. Celeste 26 -- Celina 14 The Blue Devils won their first game of the season over Celina on Saturday night. The game was postponed Friday night because of the rain. Captains for the game were Charles Tillerson, Archie Lowe, and Richard Lyday. The Blue Devils' first touchdown came on a blocked punt by Anthony Mulkey. Charles Tillerson picked up the blocked kick and ran for forty yards for the touchdown. Mulkey ran the extra points. This put Celeste ahead 8 - 0. Only a few plays later, Mickey Pierson blocked another punt and Celeste marched to the six yard line where Mulkey went over for the score. The extra point by Archie Lowe made the score 16 - 0. In the second quarter, tackle Jimmy Lowe blocked a Celina punt and six plays later another six points were added to the Celeste scoring column. Again it was Mulkey who scored. The extra points by Buddy Hopewell made the score 24 - 0 at half time. In the last half, Celina score two touchdowns and Richard Lyday tackled a Celina player in the end zone for a safety. PARTY Following the ball game, Celeste entertained Celina in the school gym. The two schools' representatives danced and were served refreshments. The decoration committee composed of Donna Childress, chairman, Carol Ross, Carole Saye, Sarah Roach, Sylvia Raper, Jeannette Swafford, Carolyn Warren, Donna Perkins, Eddie Sue Gibson, Beverly Glasscock, and Donna Glasscock, did a fine job of decorating the gym. Carrie Rayburn and Patsy Smith drew and painted large pictures of a Blue Devil and a Bobcat. These pictures were placed at the west end of the gym and flanked by pom-poms in the schools' colors. At the east end of the gym was a miniature football field complete with colorful goal posts. The sides of the gym were draped with crepe paper chains to add color. We would like to thank the teachers who helped with the party and Eddie Sue Gibson, Wanda Thacker, and Carol Ross who furnished records and record player.
