All rights reserved http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ***************************************************** The April 1, 1955 "Blue Devils’ Den" by Myra Bradford: The senior speech class is happy to report that they are making good progress on their final play, a three-act comedy called, "That Girl Patsy." The play will be presented on Friday, May 6, 1955. FHA The homemaking girls sponsored a FHA supper Thursday night, March 24, 1955. The supper was served at 7:00 PM. The program following the supper included the following: The FHA song by the group; welcome by Janie Armstrong; "If Jesus Came to Your House," by Ann Mulkey; the Creed by Elnita Long. Claudine Smith, Emma Rowell, Allene Biggs, Kay Armstrong, Peggy Compton, Val Jean Atherton, Georgann Hackney, and Teresa Rodriguez gave the Emblem Service. The program was concluded with everyone singing "The Emblem Benediction." We, the homemaking girls, want to take this opportunity to thank each and everyone who helped make our FHA supper a great success. Grammar School Three girls from the sixth grade and one from the fourth will represent Celeste at the Interscholastic League Contest at Commerce. They are Eddie Sue Gibson and Sarah Sue Roach, who will go in spelling; Carole Saye, in junior declamation; and Pat Roach, in sub-junior declamation. The fourth grade is glad to have Harold Bishop back after being ill. The fifth grade is enjoying a new film on South America. With the coming of spring attendance is improving. The fifth grade had perfect attendance Monday, March 28th. The third grade has had perfect attendance for four days. The third grade is glad to have Gloria Robinson back in school. The second grade has started studying about birds. They are sorry to lose Geneva Judge. She moved back to Lamesa. Mrs. Tom Mulkey gave Linda a birthday party at school on Friday, March 25th. A contest with bubble gum was held between the boys and girls. Ricky White and Oralene Smith received prizes for blowing the biggest bubble. Refreshments of cookies, candy, and drinks were served. Mrs. Mulkey gave all of the second grades birthday hats and balloons. Everyone had a nice time. Howard Roach went to Tyler Friday afternoon and appeared on television. J. C. Lilly had a birthday March 24th. The first graders sang "Happy Birthday" to him and made a birthday chart. Linda Horton has four baby squirrels and she has been sharing her experiences of raising them with the first grade. Derrell Smith is sick, but we hope he will be back in school soon.
