She noticed right away the knee-high garden corn and other vegetables in Jimmie Norris' garden, which she described as beautiful. She continued, "I keep hearing about the party that Catherine gave just before Easter honoring Jerry Weatherley who was home from training and just before he left for Viet Nam. All the college kids, the fellows home from camps, and numerous other young people enjoyed the Floyd home hospitality. She served pizzas that she had made herself. There was dancing, picture-taking. . ." There were Bud Roach in Leonard Wood, Missouri; W. S. Giles in Fort Rector, Alabama; Teddy Hunter in Germany, and other remembered. There was a sort of "all choked up" feeling. Suddenly, girls would retire to repair makeup and boys found tire flats to repair! Anyway, all reports are "It was a grand party." Catherine sent pictures to Mike and Nancy in Germany. Buddy Shields told of spending the day with Mr. hale. Mr. Hales is the new owner of the Spooney Grocery in Kingston and Buddy is the part-time fixture. Col. Robert Cranston and wife, Tracy of North Hollywood, California, have been visiting her mother, Mrs. and Mrs. R. N. Staton. They were en route to Washington, D. C. where he will be stationed. Roger Dell McWilliams of Greenville spent the weekend with his grandparents, Mr. and Ms. Jess McWilliams. Mrs. Jimmy Sumrow left for Washington State to join her husband who is in the US Army there. Mrs. Pauline Craigo visited her father, T. A. Logan, in Soper, Oklahoma, over the weekend. Farewell Party For Larry Godwin in Hutcheson Home Members of the Church of Christ were entertained recently in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Hutcheson. The affair was a farewell party honoring Larry Godwin before he left for six months of duty with the National Guard. Marshal is making her home with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Gilliam while Larry is stationed at Fort Bliss, El Paso, Texas. Long article about the Methodists honoring graduates with "Pacific Holiday" Banquet. The address was given by Mr. Bennie Kuo of ETSU. He received his undergraduate degree at the University of Taiwan (Formosa). The program included piano numbers by Misses Paula Gibson and Marianna Floyd. Misses Sharon Furr, Marianna Floyd, and Evangelyn Jordan sang several Hawaiian songs and several numbers from "South Pacific." Mrs. Bill Davis accompanied. They continued to play background music throughout the serving of the food. Serving were Mmes. Sarah Roach Swindell, Carole Saye Lyday, and Misses Pat Roach and Catherine Floyd. They, as well as the class members, wore colorful garments of the countries represented, with leis fashioned by members of the WSCS Society. Twenty-four class members attended; they were: Harry Childress, Bobby Duane Compton, Garland Evans, Bill Gibson, David Hackney, Danny Lipsey, Larry Lyday, Ronal Stewart, Ray Wofford, Eddie Ruth Evans, Emma Evans, Julie Farmer, Vicki Foster, Barbara Gibson, Carolyn Harrison, Janis Justus, Joanna Kirkpatrick, Linda Martin, Liza Nelson, Mary Newman, Alice Roach, Martha Sumrow, Sue Warwick, and Linda Weatherley, along with sponsors, Mr. and Mrs. G.
