They were gratified parents for many years as their children made remarkable records in school attendance. The seven Lamm children, graduating from Celeste High School over a twenty- year period, totaled eighty-one years or approximately 15,500 days of attendance in school. The Lamm parents saw them off to the bus, or in the early years of the older ones, to the Kingston School. Those children got to school "on time." Only about thirty-five absentee marks are recorded on the stacks of report cards, Mrs. Lamm has catalogued. Mrs. Lamm had on display, temporarily, over fifty "Neither Absent Nor Tardy" certificates her children had brought home. The three older children, Kenneth, 1946, the late Johnnie, 1949, and LaWanda, 1950, were perfect in attendance all their school years. Betty, 1954, had perfect attendance until her senior year. Dwain, 1959, had eight years perfect attendance, Joe, 1964, and Tommy, 1966, had nine years each of perfect attendance. In addition to attendance records, LaWanda was valedictorian of her class. All the children had active parts in school activities, including FFA and FHA, in athletics, and other fields. All family members gather at the Kingston home for Christmas holidays and other times when possible. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Lamm and four children live in Wolfe City. Kenneth is employed by the Ford Motor Company there. The late Johnnie was employed by the Texas State Highway Department when he was killed in a grade crossing accident in 1957. Mrs. LaWanda Lamm Sanders is employed by Temco. Mrs. Lamm attends the home in Greenville during the day for the four Sanders children. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Chambliss (Betty Lamm) have four children and live in a pretty home in Kingston. Mr. and Mrs. Dwain Lamm live in Denver, Colorado. He is employed by the Murdock Coal Company. Corp. Joe Lamm and wife, the former Patricia Webb of Caddo Mills, live near Camp Le Juane, North Carolina, where Joe is in the Marine Corp. Pfc. Tommy Lamm is in the medical corp at Camp Leonard Wood, Waynesville, Missouri. Mr. and Mrs. Lamm are leaders in their community. They are active in sponsoring 4 - H Club work in Kingston for many years and take children to county and district contests. Mrs. Lamm said, "As long as our members work to bring home blue ribbons for 4 - H achievement it is worth the extra hours we give." Among the twelve grandchildren are the Chambliss four, a second generation working for good records in the Celeste School. (June 2, 1967, The Celeste Courier)
