Hunt County Sheriff's deputies, Lem Warren and H. F. (Hub) Brewer, had told thirty-four boys to report to the courthouse Tuesday following the Monday night activity. This group appeared, many of them accompanied by friends and one youth said it probably "won't hurt me to hear what they have to say." Stern Talks The youths were given the stern talks by County Attorney Bill Pemberton and County Judge John Gover. They were warned, that while no charges were being file in this case, if there were ever similar circumstances, they would result in charges being filed. All Hunt County officials agreed that other news reports, especially those of out-of-county sources, had grossly exaggerated the incident. The local officers said approximately thirty-six boys from Bonham came by several carloads to Celeste about 8:00 PM where the thirty-four youths had also gathered. Weapons The deputies reported that a thorough search of the Celeste boys failed to yield any weapons of any type. . .and this included a search of their cars. However, in the Tuesday lecture, the boys were warned against large groups mulling around. The Bonham youths were armed with pieces of chain, tire tools, and other weapons, according to the understanding of the local officers. Tipped Off The officials of both counties had been tipped off that the Bonham group was coming to Celeste and they met and broke the gathering before anything happened. Associated Press claimed that the dispute between the youths of the two counties was over who had dating privileges with Celeste's teenage girls. A report was also given that Fannin County youths had been chased out of Celeste last week for dating Celeste girls. This was denied by the deputies, who said that there were some youth in Celeste, but that they weren't "chased out." The Associated Press also said that thirty-one of the Fannin County boys were fined twenty-one dollars each for disturbing the peace. The other five, who are under seventeen, are to appear in juvenile court, according to Fannin County Attorney Tibby Wright.
