L. Fox do hereby make application to the Commissioner of Pensions for a pension to be granted me under the Act passed by the 33rd Legislature of the State of Texas, and approved April 7, 1913, on the following grounds: I enlisted and served in the military service of the Confederate States during the war between the State of the United States, and that I did not desert the Confederate service, during said war I was Loyal and true to my duty and never at any time voluntarily abandoned my post of duty in the said service; discharged or surrendered at close of war. that I have been a bona fide citizen of this State since prior to Jan 1, A.D. 1900, and have been continuously since a citizen of the State of Texas. I do further state that I do not hold any National, State, city or county office which pays me a salary or fee of $300.00 per annum, nor do I receive from any source whatever money or other means of support amount in value to the sum of $300.00 per annum, nor do I own in my own right, nor does any one hold in trust for my benefit or use, nor does my wife own, nor does any one hold intrust for my wife estate or property, either real, personal or mixed, either in fee or for life of the assess value of over one thousand dollars. I have person property of the value of about $1000.00 and maybe a little more than that; nor do I receive any aid or pension from any other State or from the United States, or from any other cource (on form, probably source?), and that I am not an inmate of the Confederate Home, and I do further State that the answers given to the following questions are true: 1. What is your age? 70 years old 2. Where were you born? State of Tenn. 3. How long have you resided in Texas? 53 years 4. In what county do you reside? Hunt 5. Fox or his wife, or his trustee, or trustee for his wife, whose name is signed to the foregoing application for a pension, under the Act of 33rd Legislature, approved April 7, 1909, is charged on the land and person property rolls of said county with estate, real personal and mixed, at the assessed value of $820.00 ----dollars. Fox, private, Company "A", Burnet's 1st Battalion, Texas Sharpshooters, Confederate State Army, was enlisted April 30, 1872. One the roll of the company for September and October, 1863 (last roll of film), he is reported absent, "Left sick at Marksville, La., Feb. 21, 1863." No later record of him has been found. F. Dear madam:- Replying to your favor of December 6th. I am enclosing Mortuary Warrant application blanks on account of the death of Mr. J. L. Fox, Confederate Pensioner. Please have these blanks filled out and return to this Department, when a warrant for $30.00 will be issued in favor of the party filing claim. I am enclosing a copy of the Mortuary Warrant Law of this State for your information regarding the return of last pension warrant issued Mr. Fox for quarter ending Nov. 30, 1919. Fox, who was a pensioner of the State of Texas, and whose file is 19046 and whose original county is Hunt. The said pensioner J. L. Fox, died on the 29th of Nov. 1919, in the town of ------County of _____________, Texas. The Pensioner died in the home of J. L. Fox who was related to the pensioner as Daughter. That the warrant which application is hereby made for, shall be applied to paying all or part of the expenses incurred by the said pensioner J. L. Fox. I further certify that the warrant for the current quarter has not been chased by the pensioner, to the best of my knowledge and belief.
