All rights reserved http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ***************************************************** 1926 The streets and square of Celeste were crowded Saturday night with people who came for several miles around to witness a Charleston contest held at the Henslee platform under the direction of Fate Warren. Ten small girls entered the contest and your never saw better dancing in your life for children of their age and experience. Winner of first price of $2.00 was Oleta Cardwell; second price of $1.00 was Ellen Jackson. A collection was taken for the other girls, each receiving seventy-five cents. There were Jean Hazal, Lillian Mickler, Ollie Martin, Lottie Jewel Chaney, and Lorene Mercer. Judges were Penny Porter, John Warren, and John Hanson.
