Patterson farm, one mile east of Celeste on last Thursday night. A number of opossum had been caught and fattened. Frank White, local black man, was secured as chef, and under the supervision of E. T. Brady, Leon Puckett, and Lem Patterson, the kettles and posts were set in order. About six o’clock, the following invited guests appeared: Mr. and Mrs. John Buster, Mr. and Mrs. E. T. Brady, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Norris, Annie Katherine Norris, Felix Norris, Mr. and Mrs. Felix Roach, Mrs. G. B. Norris, Mr. and Mrs. Garland Roach, Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Patterson, Mr. and Mrs. Leon Puckett, Mary Helen Puckett, J. L. Patterson, Marie Patterson, Mr. and Mrs. Aubrey Brown, W. B. Taylor, Dan Barnard, and Sam Norman. The table was groaning under the weight of four big opossum, browned sweet potatoes, and dressing, thirty pounds of fried fish, pickles, lemons, bread, and black coffee. All persons reported a grand time. (January 13, 1927)
