All rights reserved http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ***************************************************** Homecoming, 1961 A meeting of citizens interesting in planning the Celeste homecoming has been set for Thursday, March 2, 1961, in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Lacy. The Celeste Homecoming is held every three years and the upcoming year will be the third. (February 24, 1961, The Celeste Courier) The Planning committee for the Celeste Homecoming met in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Lacy last Thursday evening and made basic plans for the event to be held Sunday, September 3, 1961. Theda Lacy was elected general chairman and vice chairmen were Jestena Hunter, Albert Granberry, and Hubert Shields. Other included: food committee head is Jestena Hunter, tables, Carl Lacy; program, Miss Mary Eastwood; reception, Ruby Jo Warren; invitation, Albert Granberry; finance, Charles Dupre; advertising, Ruby Warren. Mrs. Pansy Nell (Witt) Johnson, Mrs. Louise (McCraw) Shields, and G. W. Tillerson are responsible for the Saturday night activities. It was voted to send out the invitations with a follow-up card at a later date. It was also voted at this planning session to have the next homecoming in four years hence, in 1965, and then thereafter every five years. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Shields, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Lacy, Miss Mary Eastwood, Mr. Albert Granberry, Mmes. Ira Hunter, Lem Warren, Pat Lewis, G. W. Tillerson, and Carl Ross.
