Regulations required that all cottonseed being held on farms in Hunt County be treated not later than March 31, 1952. Mrs. Ellis Floyd of the Hickory Creek community brought in the first bale of cotton in Celeste from the 1952 crop. It ginned out four hundred sixty pounds of lint and brought forty cents per pound. The eight hundred ten pounds of seed brought seventy dollars per ton. The Celeste merchants contributed forty- two dollars as a first price for the first bale. (August 22, 1952)
