Mrs. Bill Barnard, the president , presided. Three new members were elected for the new year. They were Mrs. Charles Dupre, Mrs. Forest Abernathy, and Mrs. Ray Compton. Mrs. J. E. Norris, program chairman, gave a report on the work being done on the yearbooks for the coming year. The first meeting will be September 22, in the home of Miss Allegra Byers. Several projects were discussed, one will be chosen as the Club project for the year. The first was to make a contribution to our Celeste Volunteer Fire Department. These men and boys certainly need the assistance of the whole community. The second project was replacing the worn trash barrels in the downtown section. The third project was the Celeste School Library. This was the Club project last year. The fourth and largest project was one that would certainly be of interest to everyone. We are all justly proud of the work being done on our streets. Few of us know that our streets have names. The Club discussed putting up metal signs at the intersections telling the names of our streets. This would certainly be an improvement for our town. This should be a community project with some group taking the lead. If you would be interested in seeing this done, contact a Thursday Club member and tell them that you would be willing to help and contribute toward this project. --Reported.
