A new dairy barn is being built on the west edge of town on the Lane Road on a lease from the Haden-Morfa land. The plant is of the "parlor" type in contrast to the usual "stanchion" style barn. The new "parlor" construction has concrete pits thirty inches deep that are parallel to the floor level runway that holds two cows a one time. This allows the operation to adjust the milkers while standing erectly. The milk flows from the milkers to a tank. From there, it is piped directly into a refrigerated truck without having been handled in any way by the operator. All equipment is automatically washed and sterilized. The LaFavers will start with about thirty cows at the present. (August 26, 1960, The Celeste Courier, "Our Town This Week. . .by Mrs. Lois Lacy Lewis)
