Saye, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wesley A. Saye of RR 3, Celeste, and husband of the former Miss Mary D. O'Dell of Greenville, and serving with the First Marine Brigade at the Marine Corps Air Station, Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii, completed a six-day, 134-mile hike over the two highest peaks in Hawaii on May 9, 1960. The hike began on May 4, at Pohakuloa, a Marine training area situated between the two mountains, Mount Kea and Mount Mauna Loa, and ended at Kona, Hawaii.
