It is the Hudson Tailor Shop, owned and operated by Mrs. Cleatis Hudson since the death of her husband, Pete Hudson, eight years ago. Mrs. Hudson has been associated with the business since her marriage in 1938, adding sportswear to the men's and boys' apparel. Pete Hudson returned from Service in WWI in 1919 and purchased the shop from Charlie Lewis. Mrs. Hudson remembers that Pete told of the early days when he used a heavy flatiron heated on a charcoal bucket for pressing. One, and then two, steam presses and other equipment were added and the tailor shop enjoyed a thriving business. For many years measurements made by the tailor and orders sent for tailored suits. In later years, Norge appliances were sold and installed by Hudson. A clipping and picture of the Celeste tailor taken from a Greenville Herald shows Hudson in his shop, terming him the "oldest tailor in point of service in Hunt County, thirty-six years in one location." The lease on the shop expires at the end of this year. Mrs. Hudson, reluctant to equip a larger building, has taken a position in the western wear department of Narramore's at Greenville. In the meantime, her mother, Mrs. Will Green, manages the store during the quitting business sale now in progress. (Undated clipping) -----------
