Audie Murphy, war hero and now a movie - TV western star, was a contestant on the "About Faces" show. A Dallas photographer, James F. Laughead, was called to Hollywood to tape the show with Murphy. Mr. Laughead's connection with the star occurred sixteen years ago when he photographed the young war hero and the picture appeared as a cover on Life magazine. That was in 1945. In the TV contest-type show on Thursday, Mr. Murphy was to try to guess the connection between Laughead and himself. Audie, with several good clues from Laughead, guessed he must be a photographer and asked, "Did you work for Life magazine?" Laughead said, "Yes." Then Audie asked, "You didn't take the cover picture?" (The one that started things rolling for Murphy.) For a few minutes it seemed as if Audie wouldn't recognize Laughead. It had been a long time since they first met. Audie is listed in the stories about his life with Farmersville as his home. He was living in Farmersville with a sister at the time of his enlistment in the Army at the beginning of WWII. He had previously spent most of his boyhood years at Lane, White Rock, where he lived with his family, and later in Celeste. The last school attended in this vicinity was here in grade school. A former teacher here went to Hollywood and appeared on "This is Your Life" in which Audie's life and war experiences were revealed. (March 24, 1961, The Celeste Courier)
