Army Pvt. Spencer J. Sumrow, son of Mr. and Mrs. Spencer S. Sumrow of Celeste,
recently donated blood in Oklahoma City, in order that doctors could perform
open heart surgery on a nine-year old Mangum, Oklahoma girl. Sumrow, a
cannoneer in the 17th Artillery’ Battery C at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, entered the
Army last March and received basic training at Fort Chaffee, Arkansas.

The twenty-three year old soldier is a 1954 graduate of Celeste High School
and attended the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. Dallas Power and
Light Company employed him before entering the Army. His wife, Cecilia, lives
in Lawton, Oklahoma. (September 4, 1959)
