The Rev. Ernest Walt officiated. Burial was in the Celeste Cemetery with Taylor Funeral Home of Leonard in charge of arrangements. Born on November 11, 1915, in Fair Play, in Panola County, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Bartow Abernathy. He was married to the former Miss Zelleva Giles on September 14, 1948, in Dallas. He was employed as a clerk in the Jacque Bickham Grocery Store in Celeste. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and a veteran of World War II. He is survived by the widow; three daughters, Miss Dana Abernathy, Miss Debbie Abernathy, and Miss Dequita Abernathy, all of the home; two sisters, Mrs. Mittie Brewster of Carthage and Mrs. Annie Sealy of Beckville; and one brother, Tom Abernathy of Carthage. Active pallbearers were Edwin West, Bob Felty, Herbert McGee, Jr., Joe Martin Van King, and O. L. Nichols, Jr. (November 7, 1969, The Celeste Courier) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Forest Wesley Abernathy Forest Wesley Abernathy, 53, was born in Carthage, Texas, the son of Daniel Bartow Abernathy and Eugenia Garland Abernathy on November 11, 1915. He died November 1, 1969, at Greenville Medical Hospital, Greenville, Hunt County, Texas, after suffering a myocardial infarction and coronary occlusion of a three-hour duration. He was in the hospital for about one hour. He lived on North Fifth Street Celeste, was a grocery man, and a veteran of WWII. The informant was Zelleva Giles Abernathy. Dr. James W. Davis was his doctor. Burial was made on November 3, 1969, Celeste Cemetery, Hunt County, Texas. (80640) ---
