Roy L. Akard
    Roy L. Akard, 64, died Thursday at the Veterans Hospital in Bonham.  Mr.
Akard was a resident of Celeste.
    Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Saturday at the First Baptist Church in
Celeste.  Burial will be in the Mount Carmel Cemetery.
    Mr. Akard was born April 25, 1907 in Hunt County, son of James W. Akard and
Lou Anna Williams Akard.  He was married to Thelma Genieva Nelson in September
of 1947.  Mrs. Akard preceded him in death in 1969.
    Mr. Akard was a veteran of WWII and a retired florist.
    He is survived by one brother, J. W. Goodman of Celeste; one step-daughter,
Mrs. Steve Davis of Arlington, and two nephews, Norman Denney and Oliver Denny,
both of Dallas.
    Owens Funeral Home of Wolfe City is handling the arrangements.
