All rights reserved http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ***************************************************** Bertha Madolyn Turner Armstrong Bertha Madolyn Turner Armstrong, 87, of Celeste, died Monday afternoon, December 1, 2003, at Greenville Health and Rehab. Funeral services are at 2:00 PM Thursday, December 4, 2003, at First Baptist Church of Celeste under the direction of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home. Dr. James Ralson will officiate. Burial is in Celeste Cemetery. The daughter of Frank Turner and Nannie Moore Turner, she was born on June 4, 1916, in Hunt County. She was a Celeste High School graduate in 1933. That same year she was married to Alger Harold Armstrong in Durant, Oklahoma. Mrs. Armstrong did clerical work at J. R. Love Manufacturing Company in Celeste. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Celeste. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Doug Armstrong and Frances Armstrong and Don Armstrong and Katie Armstrong of Celeste; daughters and sons- in-law Kay Nichols and O. L. Nichols of Celeste and Janie King and Van King of Greenville; a sister, Clara Fielder of Tyler; seven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2002, her parents, four brothers, and two sisters. Pallbearers are Steve Armstrong, Mike Armstrong, Kelly Armstrong, Brad Armstrong, Wes Armstrong, Toby Armstrong, Alan Armstrong, Les Nichols, Craig Nichols, James Willingham, and Mark Coles (grandchildren, great-grandchildren). Honorary pallbearers are Johnnie Lyon, Bill Barnard, Gerald Williams, and Glenn Mitchell. Memorials may be made to the Celeste First United Methodist Church Building Fund. Visitation is from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday, December 3, 2003, at the funeral home.
