All rights reserved http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ***************************************************** John Henry (Johnny) Baker, Sr. John Henry (Johnny) Baker, Sr., 69, of Kingston, died at 10:00 PM Sunday in a Greenville hospital. He had been in failing health for ten years. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM today in the Coker-Mathews-Peters Funeral Chapel with Connie Hollis and L. W. Harless, Church of Christ ministers, officiating. Burial will be in Forest Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Weldon Prince, J. E. Prince, Glenn Hall, W. L. McClannahan, C. E. Brazil, and Raymond Harrison. Mr. Baker was born March 17, 1897, in Petty, Alabama, the son of J. B. Baker and Mattie Clanton Baker. He moved from Alabama to Caddo Mills in 1928 and in 1936 moved to Kingston. He was married on March 15, 1919, at Swifton, Arkansas, to Beulah Applegate, who survives. A retired farmer, he was a veteran of World War I, and a member of the Kingston Church of Christ. Survivors, in addition to his widow, include two daughters, Mrs. Geneva Nix, Houston, Mrs. Billie Jean Tidwell, Fort Worth; two brothers, Roy Baker, Bragg City, Missouri, Alto Baker, California; one sister, Mrs. T. W. Haygood, Truman, Arkansas; five grandchildren, John Allen Baker and Pamela Gail Baker, children of the late John H. Baker, Jr., Greenville, Andrea Jean Tidwell, Fort Worth, Earljean Scott, Atlanta, Georgia, Wayne Nix, Houston; and one great-grandchild, Eric Paul Scott, Atlanta, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, John H. Baker, Jr., who died in 1951. Friends may call at Coker-Mathews-Peters Funeral Home prior to the service.
