He had been ill for six weeks. He was born on August 17, 1911, in Hunt County the son of Oscar Cardwell and Jennie Perkins Cardwell. In 1935, he was married to Edna Earl Perkins. Mr. Cardwell made his home in Hunt County all his life and in Celeste for the past eleven years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Celeste, where funeral services were held at 2:30 PM, Friday, October 23, 1959. Rev. H. B. Gideon, pastor, conducted the services, assisted by Rev. Earl Allen of Lufkin and Rev. Bill Bell of Greenville. Pallbearers were Carl Lacy, Roy Stapleton, Albert Granberry, Herman Compton, Garland Merrell, and William Wright Merrell. Burial was made in Memoryland Cemetery with Owens Funeral Home of Wolfe City in charge of arrangements. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Edna Earl Cardwell; two daughters, Mrs. Peggy Jean Arnold of Dallas and Linda Gail Cardwell of Celeste; his mother, Mrs. Oscar Cardwell, Celeste; one brother, Hal Cardwell, Sudan, and one sister, Mrs. J.
