All rights reserved http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ***************************************************** ALLEN TAYLOR BIGGS Allen Taylor Biggs, 78, of Kingston died Wednesday night, February 11, 1959, in a Greenville hospital from injuries received in a two-vehicle crash on US Highway 69 at Kingston. Mr. Biggs was crossing the highway in his pickup truck when his vehicle was in collision with a car driven by Don Summers, 25, an Oklahoma man who had just been employed at Temco, Greenville. An ambulance rushed Mr. Biggs from the scene of the accident, about ten miles north of Greenville, to the hospital. The accident occurred at 4:00 PM. Mr. Biggs died at 7:30 PM from head injuries. He was thrown from his pickup in the crash. Mr. Summers was driving his 1953 Oldsmobile back to his home in Owassa, Oklahoma, to pick up a birth certificate needed for employment at the Temco plant. Mr. Biggs lived near the scene of the accident. The accident was at an intersection of a small road and the high, near the Kingston Store. Both the car and the 1941 pickup truck were total losses. Highway Patrolman Joe Ward investigated. The truck was crossing from the east to the west side of the road when the collision occurred, with the car traveling north. Mr. Biggs was born on April 17, 1880, in Tennessee and came to Texas when he was eleven years of age. He had spent most of his life in Hunt County and was living at Kingston at the time of his death. He had also resided in Celeste and White Rock. He was a retired farmer. His parents were W. M. Biggs and Elizabeth Taylor Biggs. Funeral services were conducted Friday at 2:00 PM at the Church of Christ in Kingston with Connie Hollis of Leonard officiating. Burial was in the McWright Cemetery under the direction of Gray-Sorrells and Sons Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Carl Lamm, Willard Spoonemore, Bo Lipsey, Bert Reisor, Scott Wright, and Cloyd Gibson. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Minnie Biggs; one son, Haskell Biggs, Celeste; one sister, Mrs. Sallie Holloway, Greenville; and two grandchildren, Allen Biggs and Allene Biggs of Celeste.
