E. Cannon The Celeste Courier, 22 December 1961, Hunt County, Texas CELESTE Mrs. J. E. Cannon Services at Methodist Church Funeral services for Mrs. J. E. Cannon, long-time Celeste resident, were held at 2:30 PM Tuesday, December 19, 1961, in Celeste First Methodist Church. Rev. Albert Click officiated. Burial was in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Wolfe City. Mrs. Cannon died in a Terrell hospital, Monday, December 18, 1961. She was born November 29, 1872 in Pensacola, Florida and came to Texas when an infant. She moved to Hunt County at the age of thirteen. Since that time she had spent most of her life in Celeste and area. Mrs. Cannon was a lifetime member of the Methodist Church and a charter member of the Women's Society of Christian Service. She married Dr. John Edward Cannon in 1888. He was a Hunt County pioneer doctor. Surviving are a son, George E. Cannon, Houston; one daughter, Mrs. Josephine Crittenden, Forney, three grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and one great-great- grandchild.
