All rights reserved http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ***************************************************** Mrs. Louie Wilson Richards Childress Celeste--Mrs. Louie Wilson Richards Childress, of Celeste, beloved mother, grandmother, and aunt passed away early Thursday morning at Parkland Hospital in Dallas after suffering from complications from a motor vehicle accident in the late September near Celeste in Hunt County (CR 1093). Mrs. Childress was born in Hunt County, Texas on November 22, 1918, the daughter of Sarah Whited Richards and Wilson Randolph (Wilkes) Richards. She was graduated from Celeste High School in 1937 and earned her BS and MS degrees from East Texas Statue University in Commerce. She married George William Ferguson Childress on June 6, 1937, in Leonard, Texas. She taught elementary school in El Paso, Memphis, Farwell, Seagoville, and Mesquite before retiring in 1984. Following retirement, she and her husband returned to their home in the Dulaney community in Hunt County. Mrs. Childress is survived by her son, George Wilson Childress, M. D., and wife Janice Childress of McKinney; grandson, Michael Childress of Stephenville; granddaughters Andrea Childress Gilstrap and husband Brain Gilstrap of McKinney and granddaughter Meredith Childress Price and Husband Lt. Aaron Price of McKinley; nieces Jane Ellen Hair of Rio Rico, Arizona, Charlsey Ann Tidwell of Celeste, and Evelyn McGee of Leonard; nephews Ronnie Childress and Harry Childress of Celeste; sisters-in-law Margie Childress of Celeste and Bonnie LeBlanc of Gonzales, Louisiana. Mrs. Childress was a member of the Church of Christ in Celeste. Her husband, George F. Childress, sister Ardale James and brothers Russell Richards and John Richards preceded her in death. Services will be held at 2:30 PM, Sunday, October 12, 2003, with Brother Charles Wrenn and Brother A. C. Quinn officiating. Mrs. Childress will be laid to rest beside her late husband George F. Childress at Dulaney Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Mrs. Childress' nephews, Ronnie Childress and Harry Childress and her great-nephews, Brad Nichols, Terry Childress, Jared Hair, and Joshua Hair. Memorials may be made to the Church of Christ, PO BOX 386, Celeste, Texas 75423-0386 or the First United Church 315 North Church Street, McKinney, Texas 75069.
