Jewel Green Compton
    Mrs. Jewel Green Compton, 78, died on October 30, 1978, in a Dallas
hospital.
    Services were at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, at Coker-Mathews-Peters Funeral Home
Chapel in Greenville with the Rev. Francis Sale and the Rev. Ken Cole
officiating.  Burial was in Memoryland Memorial Park and nephews served as
pallbearers.
    Mrs. Compton was born on January 27, 1900, in Hunt County, the daughter of
Jehue Green and Genia Shanks Green.  She was married to Mack Compton on
October 29, 1927, at Celeste.  She was a member of the First United Methodist
Church.
    Survivors include her husband; two brothers, Roy Green of Greenville and
J. T. Green of Garland; six sisters, Mrs. Gladys Comer, Mrs. Nannie Robinson,
and Mrs. Gwen Warren, all of Greenville, Mrs. Nellie Vanhoozer of Celeste,
Mrs. Lillian Newman of Denison, and Mrs. Lorene Shannon of Garland; a
daughter, Mrs. Jean Allen of Sulphur Springs; four grandchildren; and two
great-grandchildren.
    Mrs. Compton was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, and a
